Pre-Occupational Therapy Student from Memphis, TN
Why did you decide to pursue this health profession? I decided to pursue this health profession because I want to be able to help people return to everyday life by assisting them with improving their daily activities. As a young girl I watched my nana struggle to return to her “normal” activities after a major surgery, and it has inspired to to be there for others.
What is your major and why did you choose it? My major is Exercise Science because I have always known that I wanted to work with people in the health related field.
How has the HPAO helped you? HPAO has helped me by giving me a safe space when I needed to talk to my advisor or Mrs. Yamika because I was struggling with school. HPAO has also offered me several leadership opportunities within different organizations on campus.
What is your most memorable experience working with the HPAO? My most memorable experience working with the HPAO is volunteering at campus visits. I enjoy being a mentor to those who look forward to attending the University of Mississippi one day.
What are your career goals? I plan to commission into the US Air Force in May of 2021 and serve as a Second Lieutenant. Upon receiving my first assignment, I plan on applying to different schools to get my Doctorate in Occupational Therapy.
What is your favorite meal in Oxford? My favorite meal in Oxford is Hibachi chicken, shrimp, and steak fried rice from Toyo!
What are you happiest doing when not working or studying? When I am not working or studying, I enjoy doing nails, listening to music, and traveling.
