Shivani Shukla
Pre-medical student from Clinton, MS
Why did you decide to pursue this health profession? I want to be able to make a difference in people’s lives through my love of science and becoming an advocate for their health.
What is your major and why did you choose it? My major is public health, and I chose it because I love how it teaches ways to promote health among our society and educate the general public in medical knowledge.
How has the HPAO helped you? HPAO has helped me with everything I’ve had to do in undergrad: picking classes, figuring out where to volunteer, shadowing, and simply just a helping hand. It has built my confidence as a pre-med student by making sure I am on the right track.
What is your most memorable experience working with the HPAO? I loved working the Mississippi Day tent, where we talked to a lot of prospective students about their pre-health journey.
What are your career goals? I hope to become a physician!
What is your favorite meal in Oxford? I absolutely love Proud Larry’s veggie burger with sweet potato fries on the side!
What are you happiest doing when not working or studying? When I am not working or studying, my favorite place to be is at home with my three dogs.
