The Mississippi Beta Chapter of ALPHA EPSILON DELTA, a national honorary society for premedical/pre-dental and other qualified pre-health students, was chartered at the University of Mississippi in 1938. The goals of the organization are to encourage and recognize scholastic excellence and leadership among students, to provide activities which support their career goals, and to serve the health care needs of the campus community.
Membership Levels and Requirements:
Full Member
- Overall GPA and BCPM (Bisc, Chem, Phys, and Math) GPA of 3.20, and
- Lifetime membership with dues of $100 ($75 if you are already a paid associate member).
Associate Member
- Candidates must enroll in the HPAO, and
- Membership dues of $25 (can be credited toward Full Member dues)
- Must reapply when eligible for Full Membership

APPLYING FOR MEMBERSHIP:
The membership application may be downloaded from the HPAO website, printed, and completed by hand. Submit the completed AED membership application, along with a current transcript, to the HPAO, 359 Martindale-Cole Center.

AED officers and sponsor will review the application and evaluate the transcript. Grades from all colleges attended should be reflected. Applicant should assume acceptance if requirements are met.
If the applicant is invited to become a Full Member, you must be present at both the initiation and the banquet. Dues are payable when application is made. The national office of AED requires each initiate to complete a membership card. In exchange the new member will receive a signed certificate. The membership book is signed at the close of a brief initiation ceremony. New members also receive verification from the national office.
Associate Member applicants should submit check ($25.00) and transcript with application; applications may be submitted any time of the year. Associate Members must re-apply when they have qualified for Full status. Their $25.00 dues are then discounted from the Full membership fees of $100.00.
