Health Professions Advising Office (HPAO)
University of Mississippi

Sreya Maddali

Pre-medical student from Madison, MS

Why did you decide to pursue this health profession? I’ve always been interested in how the human body works, and I really to wanted help people as much as I can. I can’t think of a better way to support people than helping their health, so becoming a doctor just seemed like the right thing to do.

Major: Biology and Public Policy Leadership

Why did you choose this major? I chose biology because I really like learning about living things and systems, and I thought it would help me achieve my career goals. I chose public policy leadership because I became really interested in government and policy analysis, and I really wanted to learn more about how government interacts with healthcare providers.

How has HPAO helped you on your pre-health journey? HPAO has really helped me stay on track with reaching my career goals. They’ve provided me with so many resources and supported me to make sure I can continue to be my best.

What is your most memorable HPAO experience? I loved making bracelets with people at Mississippi Day. I got to talk to so many people about HPAO and got a pretty sweet necklace out of it.

What are your career goals? I’m planning to go to medical school to hopefully become a doctor.

What are you the happiest doing? I love playing some cozy video games to relax.

What is your favorite study spot? Even though it’s busy, I like studying on the 2nd floor of the student union.

What is your favorite meal in Oxford? Vegetable Ramen from Sakura Hibachi & Ramen
